The Lanark Church of the Brethren is a gathering of believers from many backgrounds. We are united as one and form the body of Christ together in one place because of the beliefs, hopes and commitments we share. Our foremost understanding is that Jesus is God’s only begotten Son. He was sent by God, because of God’s love for the people of this earth. He came to be both an example of right and purposeful living, and a sacrifice for the sins of all humanity.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe the entire Bible to be the inspired word of God and understand the New Testament to be an invitation into personal relationship with God through Jesus. The New Testament is our primary source of instruction, for through Christ, the Old Testament prophecy and instruction are made complete. This sacred word is read, understood, and transforms our lives through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the help of the faith community.
